About Us

The Contra Costa Crisis Center was founded in 1963 and incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 1969. Our federal tax-exempt number is 94-1747227.

The Crisis Center’s mission is to keep people alive and safe, help them through crises, and connect them with culturally relevant resources in the community. We do this by operating a variety of countywide programs that serve residents of Contra Costa County, California.

Goals and policies of the Crisis Center are set by an 11-member board of trustees. A staff of 20 manages day-to-day operations and directs program services. The staff is assisted by 250 active volunteers who donate more than 25,000 hours per year.

The Crisis Center’s operating budget is $1.5 million. Funding sources include individual donations, corporate and foundation grants, United Way, government contracts, and Leftovers Thrift Shop, an agency auxiliary.
